Assistant/Associate/Full (Open Rank) Professor- Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX
The Department of Nutritional Sciences (NS) seeks an energetic faculty member to join a growing program with 20 full time faculty.  The successful applicant will contribute to the university’s mission through teaching, research, and service by serving as a faculty member in our accredited graduate programs that include approximately 84 students in doctoral and master’s degrees and dietetic internship. NS faculty also have the opportunity to teach in the growing undergraduate program of over 700 students

Required Qualification: 
• An earned doctorate, such as DrPH, or PhD, in dietetics, nutrition, public health or related disciplines by September 1, 2018. 
• Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Have a Texas Dietitian License on or before the first day of employment.  
• Demonstrated record of effective teaching.
• Demonstrated potential (commensurate with current position title) to secure extramural research grants and to engage in externally funded collaborative research projects across the college and university, and with local/regional and national partners including government, corporate, and philanthropic funding agencies. 
• Strong written and verbal communication 
Preferred Qualifications:
• Three years professional experience in the field of dietetics, post credentialing.
• Demonstrated record of effective teaching at the college level, commensurate with current position title. 
• Demonstrated ability to utilize technology and online delivery methods. 
• Demonstrated ability to securing extramural research funding, commensurate with current position title. 
• Leadership within the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or other professional associations.
• Experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation students is highly desirable.

Dietary Tech Position

The Dietary Technician works closely with the Dietitian and provides patients, families, and other healthcare professionals with food and nutrition information. The Diet Tech collects and ensures accuracy of nutrition screening information.


·         Collect nutrition screening information on patients with various conditions including: tube feeding, dialysis, wounds, weight loss or gain, and other conditions. Chart on conditions.

·         Review labs and report abnormal labs to dietitian

·         Communicate regularly with dietitian regarding high risk residents

·         Coordinate and participate in weekly Nutrition at Risk meeting with Director of Nursing

·         Communicate with Restorative Nursing Aides to receive weights, request re-weighs, and request heights as needed.


·         Excellent time management and organizational skills

·         Detail-oriented

·         Be able to communicate effectively with residents, dietitian, and team members

·         Basic computer and keyboarding proficiency

·         Desire to provide excellent care and service for the older population

·         Follow established protocol in order to be compliant with regulation

·         Nutrition background: acceptance in or graduation from accredited dietetics program.

·         Utah Food Handler’s Permit and experience working in foodservice operations preferred

·         Physical Requirements: see, read, write, speak, and understand English

15-20 hrs/week *Additional hours may be available if willing to work in kitchen as diet aide/dishwasher or cook.

Schedule: Work must be completed according to regulation/deadlines. Schedule/hours are flexible—created by diet tech with RD based on needs. Must be available to come in at least 4 days/week if needed.

Compensation: $10.25/hr
