Tuition

Interns register for four hours Fall, five hours Winter, and three hours Spring, or a total of 12 hours during the Internship. Part-time graduate tuition for LDS students is $301 per semester hour. Health Insurance
Interns must have either private or BYU health insurance. The cost of BYU health insurance for married interns is $350 per semester or $175 per term, and for single interns is $204 per semester or $102 per term. (These are 2009-10 prices).  See
http://health.byu.edu/healthplan for updated information) Malpractice insurance is provided without charge through BYU’s Risk Management Department.   

Living Expense

An estimate of rent, food, and transportation expenses for the nine-month internship is $5,000.


Professional Fees

  • ADA Associate Membership: $49 for students, $105 for the first year after graduation, $210 for an active membership thereafter.  1-800-877-1600
  • RD Examination Fee: $200
  • During the course of the DI, interns will attend the UDA Annual Meeting, either the ADA Food and Nutrition Conference and Exhibition, or the ADA Public Policy Meeting. Each meeting has a registration fee, as well as travel and possibly lodging expense. The expense varies with the meeting, and interns are encouraged to set aside money for these professional activities.

Personal Expenses

  • Physical Examination and influenza vaccination: variable cost
  • Books: approximately $200 for the internship, additional text expense if master's degree is being pursued
  • White lab coat, clipboard, and personal office supplies
  • Materials for projects and folders; $40
  • Appropriate clothing and shoes as required for professional dress

Employment

Due to the time commitment involved with the Dietetic Internship, outside employment is not recommended.  


Financial Aid
