The Brigham Young University DI participates in the pre-select option to computer matching. In the pre-selection process, the program will select six students per year who have met the admission requirements for the DI. January 15 is the postmark deadline for applications. The applicant will be notified on or before February 1 confirming his/her acceptance status in the program.
If pre-selected, the applicant's name and social security number are submitted by February 1 to D&D Digital Systems, Inc. to ensure that the applicant will not participate in the April computer match. If the applicant is not selected through the pre-select process, he/she may apply to any other DI through the computer matching process. Criteria for Selection of Applicants Includes:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Dietetics from Brigham Young University
- An undergraduate GPA of 3.0 with no grade lower than a B- in any NDFS course or C- in other major courses
- One thousand hours of dietetics-related work and/or volunteer experience
- Completed Application Form (located under DI Application on this website), including a $30 application fee (made to DCL), must be submitted by January 15 prior to the Fall Semester of desired admittance.
- Letter of Intent. This letter should be limited to two typed pages and may include background information, professional and career goals, why you are interested in the BYU Internship, and personal strengths and weaknesses. Other information you feel would be helpful to the Selection Committee may be included. Also, if you plan to pursue the concurrent master's degree, please indicate it in your letter.
- An Intent to Complete Form if you have not yet graduated or a Verification Statement if you are a graduate.
- Graduate Record Examination; score submitted to BYU.
- Submission of two recommendation forms from work and/or volunteer supervisors (in a sealed envelop esigned across the flap.
- Personal interview with the selection committee.
- Physical examination report; drug screen; criminla background check'; immunization record (folllowing acceptance).
